2000: Women's Fashion Clothes and Accessories Trends

For the year 2000 the fashion apparel trends followed the color cycle the soft colors translated into the Quiet trend which was very modern with skin and hair like textures. Apparel was very muted and soft for autumn where as more hard and edgy for winter. In the Summer the trend was more clean and crisp and sharp and contemporary.

Forecast 2000: Photos, video and trend-watching from New York's Fashion Week

-The fashion world swept through New York last week with nearly as much bluster as Hurricane Floyd, which dumped so much rain Thursday that several events had to be rescheduled. The shows closed Saturday, leaving a clear forecast of spring 2000 -- plenty of hot pink, halter tops, sheer skirts and Western wear.

-Nostalgic Americana emerged as a trend of several collections. Ralph Lauren presented gingham slacks and strapless halter tops.

-Tommy Hilfiger went for what he calls "a rock 'n' roll edge with an American sensibility" in the shape of crystal-fringed bell-bottoms and snakeskin biker vests.

-Plenty of attendees at the week's events -- including Madonna -- turned up wearing pony-skin hats or boots.

-Designers also showed plenty of women's midriffs and backs, with a variety of halter tops.

-Everywhere in the collections, bright colors bloomed. Oscar de la Renta was definitive in his use of lime, yellow and hot pink: "Massive color, bright color, in-your-face color, no more pale colors," the 77-year-old designer decreed.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
-The world's only yellow metal, a symbol of wealth, and a permanent store of value, gold is set to be a precious commodity right through to Autumn/Winter 2000/01, with great potential for Christmas 2000, particularly for the youth market.

-The great gold rush starts in summer 2000: for maximum impact gold is worn head-to-toe, mixing dull metallic with shimmering scaled-sequins. Crochet knits and cropped summer leathers are among this seasons key gold pieces.

"Waisted Denim"

http://www.wgsn-edu.com/members/trends/track/youth/waisted/main.html

PhotobucketPhotobucket
-The classic blue jean has been, studded, glittered, embroidered and trimmed every way imaginable for summer 2000. For an oh-so-sexy move on, get a slice of the action as waist bands are cut and frayed away.

-Pioneered by sexy songstress Mariah Carey this is set to be a hot summer trend, and a very simple way to update the humble jean.

-By removing the waist bands it gives jeans sexy hip-slung proportions.

-Also fraying the waistband, and sewing it back on for extra frayed effects.

-Added sequins and beads for the built in belt look was popular.

-For more of a girly look, silky handkerchief around the waist of the skirt.

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

-Rainbow prints and color combinations.

-Airbrushed print for tiny tees, and rainbow-stripe trims for waistbands, cuffs and straps.

-With just the right measure of 70s charm and cool surfers appeal this is a key graphic look to jump on for high summer 2000. Translate onto bikinis and beachwear for a truly tropical sun splash.

"New Look Skirts"

http://www.wgsn-edu.com/members/trends/track/womens/nlskirts/main.html
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

-A new directional silhouette was promoted by some of the more cutting-edge designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, Dries Van Noten and Hussein Chalayan, with multi-layered petticoats and full tutu skirts cut to mid-calf ballerina length.

-A strong new skirt direction for this season, seen mostly at Prada and Miu Miu.

-the hip-slung knee-length pleated skirt.

-Lighter, fluid fabrics, sheer, with pleats stitched down for a slinkier look.

-Wrap skirt a key silhouette, with asymmetric hemlines, pleat and fold details and low-slung hipster proportions.

-Asymmetric angled hemlines creating an off-beat look to skirt lengths.

-Shaping made by asymmetric wrapping and gathering.

-Ruffles, tiers and frills bring a more feminine touch.
